Awesome vs Awful

This is another completely random post of things that I think are totally awesome or totally awful.

AWESOME

  • Happy people, the ones that walk by with a big huge smile on their face just because its Tuesday or just because the sun is out.

  • Hard workers, people who will take initiative and help someone out who needs it and people who go the extra mile without expecting to be recognized.

  • Good parents, people who don't let their kids go kicking and screaming through the grocery story and parents who don't beat the shiz outta them for doing so. Find the happy medium.

  • Old couples, you know the ones that drive like 20 in a 45? Have you ever noticed its them who Grandpa still gets the door for Grandma? They're the ones that still hold hands when they've been married for 60+ years. <3

  • Summer, I love driving around and seeing lemonade stands and kids running around in sprinklers.. the smell of fresh cut grass is wonderful!

  • Good friends, the people that will stay up all night just talking/venting with you even when you both need to be up early.

AWFUL

  • Grumpy people, those who walk around with the "don't even talk to me" look on their face.

  • Abusive people, the idea of anyone being abused makes me sad.

  • BiPolar Weather, Like... snowing in June in Cedar City, Utah ? ;)

  • Bugs, any that crawl, fly, buzz, sting, slither, flutter or jump.

  • Lazy people, do your job idiots, other people have theirs to do and no time pick up your slack.

  • Money, it basically sucks. Unless someone wants to just hand some over :)

Anyways... just like always.. until next time <3

Edu-ma-cation

So, this week is the week that a ton of seniors will be walking across the stage at the centrum and obtaining a life changing piece of paper (a.k.a. High School Diploma..). Congrats to all those graduating and good luck!

I remember my Graduation, I was so excited to be done, I just wanted to run across the stage, snatch that diploma, burst out the doors of the centrum and start my new life! Well.. I didn't run, I didn't snatch, and I didn't burst.. and to be honest, the "new life" isn't all I thought it would be. I expected parties and glam and boys and fun! I didn't really think much about responsibilities, I was just too excited to be done with High School.

After Graduation, I didn't have much of a break, I taught swimming lessons at the SUU pool in the mornings, and I also worked at Kolob as a CNA in the evenings to get a bit of money saved up. I worked at the pool through the summer and helped coach in the fall when I wasnt working at Kolob. I took the first semester off of school just to save for school. In Spring 2010 I did online classes and truthfully that was a mistake, I was working full time and was technically a full time student and I had so many things happen to me that semester that me grades kind of kicked my butt. I worked at the Pool and at Kolob in the Summer of 2010 and saved for school in the Fall, which went by a lot better. I also moved out in August 2010 with a few friends but ended up moving home a couple of months later.. It just wasn't worth all the extra money to be away from home. I took Spring 2011 semester off and ended up doing the EMT-Basic course through the tech college and I LOVED it! I passed with flying colors and I am now enrolled in the EMT-Intermediate course. I don't really know what I want to end up doing but this is a good start. I initially KNEW that I wanted to do Nursing but I guess my mind is now leaning towards EMT/Paramedic stuff.. Who Knew??! I really have a hard time getting motivated to spend thousands of dollars for a degree when in this economy, there are NOOOO jobs for anyone, degree or no degree. So yes, I'm a bit nervous about jumping in to student loans and giant lumps of debt before I know for sure what I want to be.. and hopefully when I get there.. I will have a super duper job :)

I guess to sum it all up, life is NOT what you expect.. Two years after being graduated I definately didn't expect to be working full time at the hospital, having a brand new car payment, trying to figure out LIFE , Living at home..
One day everything will fall into place, right now I'm content right where I am. :)

i'm a believer

Ever since I was a little girl, I have been taught right from wrong, and for this, I appreciate my parents so greatly for raising me in the gospel. I'm not saying that those who aren't members are horrible people or those who fall away are condemned, I just know that for me, in my own experiences... The Gospel is the reason I am the way I am.

So.. I don't really brag about my religion very often and I rarely bare my testimony but I think right now.. I will.

I know that the Church of Jesus Christ is the true church, and Jesus Christ was brought to this earth and crucified in order for all of us to have a chance at returning to our Heavenly Father. I know that we have true prophets that lead and guide us, President Monson is our living prophet today. I know that the atonement is real and it is here for our use, nobody is perfect but celestial glory is within reach if we choose to humble ourselves before the Lord.

I know that family is forever and like it or not, we're stuck with them. I know that one day, I want to be sealed in the Temple to the person I love for eternity, not just "until death do we part".. I want to be able to have my future children sealed to me and my husband forever and ever. I know that through the power of prayer, many things are possible.. I also know that the Lord will answer prayers the way the he feels suitable, He knows what is best for each one of us, even when we want the exact opposite.

I love this Gospel and I want my children to grow up in it as well, I want them to grow up loving the savior and appreciating all that he has done.

I leave this for pondering thoughts. Amen.

A Penny For My Thoughts?

Here are just a few random thoughts that have floated through my head at one point or another... ... I am not a girly girl but I like to get dressed up on occasion. ... I do NOT like being called "babe" but for some reason "baby" isn't as bad. ... I speak my mind and I speak it freely! ... I like living with my parents, free room and board and I have no roommate drama. ... I like to think I'm a genius, Because I am. ... People who act like they're better than everyone else, deserve a nice slap in the face with reality. ... I hate the snow, but people who facebook their feelings about snow bother me more. ... I was born to swim, and I live to play water polo. ... I can never remember the date, no matter how many times I check the calender. ... I love receiving letters! ... I talk to my dog because she doesn't talk back. ... I don't like cranky people. ... I really am fascinated with trauma and Emergency situations. ... I am sick of Facebook, its very counter-productive. ... When you go to work, leave personal problems at home and put a freakin smile on your face. ... I admire dedicated people. ... Family means everything to me, like it or not we are all stuck with each other. ... I do not like people who cause drama just for the heck of it.
Well, this is just a brief summary of a few thoughts that come and go daily.. More later.

More about me!

I know that there is already a section "about me" but I would like to go in a bit more detail and introduce myself and let everyone know what is going on in the world of me!

I was born in a small town in Carbon County known as Price, Utah. I only lived there until I was six years old and thats when I moved to Cedar City, Utah. I have been in good ole Cedar ever since and to be honest, the only thing I remember of Price is their WavePool. I went to Fiddlers Elementary, then Cross Hollows followed by Cedar Middle school which then led up to Canyon View High School where I spent most of the time in the water swimming for their Swim Team and playing on their Water Polo team. I am now attending SUU and kind of just taking it slow, I am not sure on what I want my major to be but I figured there is no rush.

I have the best parents in the whole entire world, my mom is a Registered Nurse and is my role model and my dad works for Questar and he is a super hero in my eyes. I have two wonderful sisters and im stuck right in the middle. Dani is two years older than me and she works at the Hospital in the Lab, she is the one who runs all the tests on all the specimens sent to them. She is pretty dang awesome. My little sister, Morgan is three years younger then me and she is a Lifeguard at the new Aquatic Center here in Cedar, she goes to Canyon View High School and is an avid swimmer and water polo player. She is a little heart breaker so boys, watch out!

I am currently working at IHC as a Phlebotomist, Yes, I do get to poke people with needles for my job, pretty sweet if you ask me. I am also taking an EMT-Basic course in the evenings after work and I hope to take the EMT-Intermediate course after this one ends. My goal is to eventually end up in a Paramedic Program and who knows... Maybe ill end up doing a Nursing Program after that.

I don't mean to brag.. but I think Im going to for a minute, I have to coolest dog in the world. She is a miniature black lab.. She is full grown and only goes up to my knee. She is the perfect size but she is still super playful and has so much energy. Her name is Ellie and I just love her.

Well thats all for now.. Until next time!

Documentation

Lately I have come to the realization that my life could be either a soap opera or a very intruiging novel. I have also realized that I am terrible at keeping track of anything that happens to me.
Recently I came upon my mothers journal from when she was a teenager and I loved reading every single page of it! I now realize that she reallly has been where I have, she knows what I am going through and she can give me some truly great advice. I got to thinkin about it though, I have never been very good at keeping a journal or a diary or anything so maybe I should start one so that my kids one day will be able to read it and realize that I do know what they're going through as well. Who knows, maybe one day they might make a movie out of it.

Not only am I going to try to keep better record of my personal life and issues with a journal, I am going to try out this whole blogging thing. I am a fan of it so far, lets just hope it sticks!
